Size and Diameter of the Replacement Glass Shade

Precision is essential when it comes to the diameter and dimensions of the replacement shade:

• Measure the old shade or base of your lamp accurately before you decide to buy. The measurements in centimetres are crucial for a perfect fit. Nothing is more annoying than a beautiful new shade that doesn't fit the lamp.
• The lamp holder should be compatible with the hole in the shade. Every millimetre counts to ensure a secure and stable fit.
• Whether small lampshades or large glass lampshades are the right choice depends on the type of luminaire and the desired style. 

Light sources for glass lampshades

The beauty of glass lampshades is that they enhance the light source inside. So the choice of bulb shape also influences the look of a floor, table or pendant lamp with a glass shade. For vintage-style lighting, we recommend retro-style LED lamps - also known as incandescent lamps. Although these LED lamps look like incandescent bulbs, they are more durable and energy efficient.

As well as incandescent lamps, all common light sources can be combined with a luminaire with a glass shade - as long as the base of the light source fits into the luminaire's socket.

Socket: belongs to the lamp; the base of the light source is fixed in the lamp's socket.

Socket: part of the light source itself, e.g. E14 and E27, also known as the Edison socket.
