Illuminating Sloped Ceilings - 7 Tips for Lighting in the Attic

Do you live in an flat with sloped ceilings and small windows? Then you probably know the problem: slanted ceilings absorb light and make the respective room look smaller. But there are also clever lighting solutions for sloping walls that use light to give poorly lit rooms a new look. We give you 7 tips on how to make a dark attic flat shine in a new light.

1. Lighting in the Attic: Illuminating Sloped Ceilings with Pendant Lighting

A practical and stylish solution for lighting rooms with a slightly sloping ceiling is to use pendant lights in rows. This way the cable length of the individual lamps can be adjusted so that the bulbs of the individual lighting elements hang at the same height. This is a great idea for lighting in the kitchen, for example. Our tip: Arrange the pendant lamp so that it runs in a line parallel to the kitchen table.

2. Mounting Lamps on Sloped Ceilings

In rooms with slanted ceilings or generally in angled corners of the home, flexible wire systems are suitable for lighting. Here, the lights are mounted on a wire cable that can be aligned as desired. The practical aspect of this solution is that you can direct the light in the room as you wish and provide direct or indirect lighting exactly where it is needed. This way, you can also use your slanted ceiling to create a cosy ambience in the living room, bedroom and the like.

3. Using Light Rails on Sloped Ceilings

If you want to equip your attic space with basic lighting despite sloped ceilings, you can use light rails. Although they are not flexible in their alignment, they can be screwed firmly into the slope and fitted with any number of spotlights. The spotlights can then be flexibly moved along a lighting track so that individual lighting accents can also be set with this lighting option.

4. Slanted Ceilings: Indirect Lighting in the Bedroom

Finding indirect lighting for a sloped ceiling is also very easy with our lighting tips: For example, you can install lighting coves on dark slopes. These are are lighting built into ledges, recesses, or valances on a ceiling or high on the walls that do not cause glares or shadows. Ceiling slopes can be perfectly illuminated with indirect light by means of cove lights.

5. With LED spots: Cleverly Illuminate a Sloped Ceiling

Simple recessed spotlights are an elegant solution for sloped ceilings in the bathroom. They should be considered from the beginning as you design the room and begin lighting planning because they are recessed into the ceiling. Ceiling spotlights are so practical because they can be installed almost anywhere on the sloped ceiling. They are available in various sizes and luminous intensities. We recommend the energy-saving version: the LED ceiling spot for sloped ceiling flats. Whether in the bedroom, kitchen or bathroom - a simple ceiling spotlight always looks good.

6. Installing a Wall Lamp on a Sloped Ceiling

It is also possible to mount swivelling spotlights as wall lamps on a sloped wall or ceiling. These have the advantage that you can direct the light as you wish. When buying, make sure that the spotlights you want are specially designed for installation on a sloped ceiling.

7. Cosy Lighting from Below

An uncomplicated and totally cosy version of sloped ceiling lighting is to illuminate the wall from below. Table lamps on a chest of drawers or on a dining table under the slope are particularly suitable for this purpose. It is best to choose lighing with a warm light that shines softly on the sloped ceiling. This will not illuminate the entire room, but certainly a small cosy corner in the living room.
